Hello friends! We’re thrilled to introduce our newest DIY project idea: creating a whimsical snowman hat centerpiece you’ll enjoy all Winter long. For even more winter spirit, be sure to print our rustic Christmas wall art too!
Why This Project Works
Can you guess what this centerpiece’s top hat is made from? Here’s a hint: many people can’t get enough coffee every morning! Yup, that’s right: this centerpiece was designed using coffee tins! At Sustain My Craft Habit, my sister Jane and I use materials we find around the house or nature to craft beautiful decor and crafts like this centerpiece – no exception here!
This snowman hat centerpiece would add the perfect wintery flair to your home all season long! Pair it with snowy pinecone luminaries or wood slice trees for an eye-catching winter setting!
Gathering materials for this centerpiece was truly enjoyable; but seeing all the pieces come together was truly satisfying. From painting the coffee tin and embellishing pine cones, to glueing on flowers – seeing this project come to fruition was quite rewarding. Search your home for creative ways to craft an eye-catching centerpiece like this one!
Find more ways to repurpose items around your home with these two upcycled projects: an upcycled candy tin turned pumpkin decor or wine and liquor bottle room decor. With just a bit of creativity comes big rewards!

Prepare the Top Hat
With Americana Decor Satin Enamel, use an artist brush to cover the outside surface of a coffee tin with classic black paint. Allow to dry before applying another coat for full coverage.
Paint the base of the top hat classic black. We used a round piece of plywood cut to 14” diameter; alternatively, use a round tray, large plate or platter as base.
Tip: to easily move around and avoid scratching table surfaces, add felt pads to the base of a top hat centerpiece. This allows it to be moved around more freely while protecting your table surface from potential scratches.
Painting Pine Cones: With the use of a fine tip acrylic paintbrush and some white acrylic paint, add snowy touches to each pine cone tip so as to evoke winter scenes.
